The young ones! Merida Juliet Road Ride 101, Mtrax 3.0, DB Ashton Effect, DB Tekiya, Corratec Airtec Zone, Craig Maclean, Madison Training, Watt Bikes, Rollers.......

A different approach to the blog this month, some news from the young ones who are associated with the shop, 'in their own words'

Hamish Hepburn – DB Teyika, Raleigh DJ26…….. I've been back out on my trials bike again after my jump bike has been seeing all the attention. I went to Grantown on it, and spent the day jumping on and off walls. It was great! I'm finally getting used to it's big frame and it is getting easier to use. Brilliant!! My friend across the road has now got one as well so I think we'll be out on them a lot!  I can almost stay balanced on the back wheel and I can bunny hop higher as well. On my MTB bike I got new tyres and will be out on it exploring the trails in the woods behind my house. I also came 4th (out of 9) in a mountain bike race on Saturday 2nd October in Anagach woods behind Grantown. The race was to raise funds to try and get trails and jumps built.

Megan Riach – Merida Juiliet Road, Mtrax 3 ……. Recently I have mainly been back and forth from Manchester at the track. I was down for a 2 day training session to have a shot of madison training, which was good fun! Then a week later I was back down again for a sprint school. I got to meet Craig Mclean and Geriant Thomas who were helping out at the session. The session was concentrating on improving our keirin riding skills. I was on the track for half the session practicing some skills and riding behind the bike and a couple of races at the end. For the rest of the day I was on the watt bikes having some more keirin races and I was also on the rollers for a bit. Then at the end of the day I was also doing some group work on the bikes and practicing some balancing skills and few games. It was great fun but I can't go to the other sprint schools because there down in Newport.

    Megan on the rollers!

Callum MacGregor – DB Ashton Effect I have been riding the Ashton Diamondback Effect for about 4 months now. I’ve really enjoyed using it but the weather has definitely restricted the time I can go on it. I like the fact that it is a street trials bike but it can also be used for dirt jumping. It is very easy to customise & upgrade as there are lots of mounts to put e.g. disc brakes or gears on. I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone who wants a trials bike which is also capable of BMX tricks. I am looking forward to using this bike after the winter and taking it different places, learning new tricks and hopefully making a video J

Neil Convery – Corratec Airtec Zone, Dawes Giro………. For the last 12 months I have been riding a Corratec Air Tech Zone – a cross country full suspension bike. It is reasonably light weight so it is easy going on the climbs but the suspension allows it to descend quite smoothly. I usually cycle at Laggan Wolftrax and other trail centres such as Golspie, Fort William and Glentress. Other outings have included cycling across Scotland  -  Ullapool to Bonar Bridge where a large section of track was missing and through the Gaick pass.  I also enjoy road cycling on my Dawes Giro 400 racing bike but I am waiting on some warmer dry weather so I can get out more.
