Well, winter is upon us, and the intrepid Cairngorm CC are appearing in numbers at the Cross races. Mike (on his custom Raleigh U6X), Charles, Tom & Fletcher the younger have completed the 1st two of the series. Plean (Stirling) started very well with a crisp winter day and lots of sunshine, a record entry for the race 110+, made finishing more important than competing!!  Last weekend saw the same 4 at  Auchentoshan (Clydebank), negotiating a very hairy start, (huge numbers and a very muddy course with lots of running), made it tough going. Support at the race was superb including two local drunks, Rapha man (Brian Skinner), Dougie, and Mikes Dad (without a TT bike!)

Dougie watched with the possibility of trying the Glenmore cross races. He has changed his mind, after watching the race at the most exciting vantage point (a huge muddy trench), he is now focussing on his running career again! Next week is Mugdock (childhood homeland to mike), and is sure to be muddy (a recurring theme).

Also seen in race action were Hamish Irvine, Dave McIntyre and Helen Ridley (on her Ridley Eos), at the Tour of the Trossachs.

With winter upon us the shop staff have been trying out lots of Sigma Lights, RSP lights and the frankly fantastic range of Night Vision clothing from Altura. Mike has blagged the Night Vision windproof jacket, "it lights up like a christmas tree", as well as Altura Night Vision bib longs and arm warmers. Many of our customers are regular winter commuters on road bikes, hybrids and Mountain Bikes, many cite puncture protection as the key winter priority, Mikes Bikes have a range of winter tyres from the "bombproof" Michelin Pilots (£27.99), to the lightweight Continental Gatorskin training tyre (£22.99).

Next week will see the arrival of the Ridley 2010 Crossbow at £849.99, and the all new Raleigh U6X cross bike in stealth bomber Matt Black! So there is still time to train for the two races at Glenmore
